to be known, is to be human

= my therapist once said, to be known is to be human

I laid cheek to chest

I found my life vest

It’s not that it’s Him

Yet there is something calming to his masculine mindset in moments

When mine’s a sticky fly trap

He sleeps next to my stickiness

Without judgement of my insects

Sometimes you gotta let it go Ali

Casually with a smile

He wasn’t telling me

He was loving me

It’s that when I need to tantrum he lets me

And when he needs to tantrum I let him

When I need to bury my head in shame

When he needs to nuzzle his head in despair

He’s wisdom when it matters

I’m nurturing when it matters

There’s a surprising yin and yang

He puts me back together again

Without any putting

Masculine hands

To my feminine heart

After deep sea diving

I laid cheek to chest

I found my life vest

It’s not that it’s him

It’s that he actually knows me

It’s as she said

To be known is to be human
